China - Training Courses for Chinese Officials from the Regional Government of Jiangsu

This project involved training courses in WTO, Market Economy and Export Marketing for Chinese administrative officials from Jiangsu. These seminars took place in Baden-Wurttemberg. bw-i was responsible for preparing information and training material; carrying out the training seminars and arranging further training facilities in Baden-Wurttemberg. The project aimed to train these officials, mostly department managers, in various subjects. The courses addressed managerial, organisational, technical and economical issues that would be helpful during the WTO application process. In the framework of this project, the capacity of the national, regional and local authorities to formulate and implement regional development policies has also been improved.


China - training courses for junior Chinese managers
Financed by the Baden Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, bw-i provided advanced training for Chinese junior mana­gers either employed by companies with joint ventures with Baden-Wurttemberg companies or employed by companies from Baden-Wurttemberg with offices in China. Training in quality management (ISO 9000), marketing and human resource development were offered and contributed to improving the links between the regions of Liaoning and Jiangsu with Baden Württermberg.
China - Establishment of the Jiangsu Economic Management Institute in Nanjing
The main goals of this project were to provide advanced training of company managers in contemporary management methods, update curricula, sponsor workshops and seminars, and provide various services for industry. bw-i offered the following services: training lecturers from the Jiangsu Management Institute; preparing information and training material with a focus on management, marketing, controlling, quality management, and international co-operation; training in project management; and arrangement of further training facilities, both locally and in the Federal Republic of Germany. In addition, bw-i provided consultation services on the topics of business administration, technology, and quality management for local companies in co-operation with the Management Institute. Overall the project was meant to prepare the way for co-operation and joint ventures between Chinese and foreign companies.
Indonesia - Balai Latihan Instruktur Bandung (BLIB)
The objective of the project is to train technical instructors from other VTC of Indonesia, especially in metal-working technologies. bw-i organised courses to train technical instructors in mechanical engineering, welding, and sheet-metal working. Instructors obtain a Technical Teacher’s License which enables them to teach in one of Indonesia’s 153 vocational training schools. Furthermore, the upgrading of technical and managerial skills are offered as a service to local trade and industry, e.g. advanced training courses for managers, heads of workshops, and foremen. Other services offered by bw-i included: definition of equipment and teaching material, preparation of tender and export documents, proposal evaluation, bidder selection, shipment and installation of equipment, trainer instruction, improvement of teaching material, and assistance for long and short-term experts.
Malaysia - Establishing a High-tech Production Centre in the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) in Kuala Lumpur
This project supported the creation of a CNC-production workshop with a CNC-turning machine, CNC-milling machine, 3-D coordinate measuring system, and CAD-workstations linked to a production system under realistic production conditions. bw-i was responsible for tender definition, proposal evaluation, inspection of purchases, and expert missions to install equipment and train instructors. In addition, bw-i organised practice-oriented courses by short-term experts from Germany on CNC production, CNC measuring and manufacturing techniques, and other subjects, such as work flow, methods, supervision, and programming. Furthermore, German companies may use this facility for traning purposes, courses, and meetings.
Vietnam - Establishment of a Management Training Centre
The Centre provides further management training seminars for active company managers, especially in project management, and bw-i created the teaching materials for these courses. By training local instructors on the job the Centre is able to continue its major aim. The transfer of know-how from Germany helped to support the reconstruction of the country. In addition, Vietnamese lecturers were trained in Germany. The Centre also provides advisory services to Vietnamese companies on the spot, focusing on business administration, technology, and quality management.
Vietnam - Implementation of a Market Study on the Need for Further Education and Consulting in North Vietnam
bw-i carried out company interviews to identify the needs in the area of further education and consulting, as well as an analysis of the competitiveness of the individual companies in order to estimate each one’s position.
Vietnam - Seminar on Social Market Economy for Political Managers from Ministries and Economic Commissions
bw-i organised and implemented a seminar on Social Market Economy, as well as selecting and sending the experts. Subjects of the seminar included: social security, labour market policies, the economic order of the Federal Republic of Germany, the constitutional state, the private company in the Social Market Economy, and experiences and problems of the Social Market Economy.
Vietnam - Upgrading of the Pedagogic Technical University (PUT) in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City
This project was meant to establish and support model training facilities for technical instructors, including consulting equipment, train the trainer programmes and further training for entrepreneurs. In equipping and supporting technical training facilities in Ho Chi Minh City, a far-reaching effect is desired on other technical institutions within the country. Machinery, tools, laboratory installations and teaching materials are provided to establish training possibilities for different levels and short courses to upgrade skills of SME staff. Long-term experts of the German staff advise the Technical University and the Vietnamese Government to achieve this goal. Special efforts are made to incorporate modern pedagogical aspects in technical education and to teach these to the instructing personnel. Advanced further training facilities for Vietnamese instructors are provided locally and in the Federal Republic of Germany.
